Different fuels often have distinguishable chemical fingerprints. For example, these fingerprints can be used to detect the origin of the fuel, i.e., where the raw oil used in the fuel originated from.
At Demcon, we have a near infrared spectroscopy sensor to enable fuel quality control for one of our customers. Extracted data is input for an algorithm that can classify into different quality grades. Besides the spectroscopy technology, we also integrated the measurement sensor into a flow cell. This flow cell allows continuous analysis of the fuel and is ATEX approved.
